DII Technical Services

Why does the State of Vermont still utilize a mainframe?  Isn't that outdated technology?

No!  Our IBM mainframe, a.k.a. enterprise server, is a platform of choice for mission-critical applications and storage for corporate data.  The State of Vermont utilizes both System z hardware and software to create a superior and optimal operating environment emphasizing:

  • Availability & resiliency:  a proven track record providing A-plus protection and recovery from failures.
  • Security:  The mainframe and its operating system provide leading-edge technology in data security.
  • Scalability:  Modifications can be made--machines can be partitioned and re-partitioned, system resources can be allocated or re-allocated--with no human intervention in most cases, with no disruptions to applications and no perceived loss of service.
  • Virtualization & workload management:  The mainframe can run and intelligently manage multiple workloads, both legacy and Web applications.

Now, what can we do for you?

DII Technical Support Services offers a full range of information support through planning, evaluation, installation, tailoring, monitoring, diagnosis, maintenance, problem solving, training, security and administration of system control and third party programs.  We also provide data base and data storage management services.
