Calling Cards/Long Distance Service
Long-Distance Services
Long Distance Authorization Codes:
The state contracts for long distance telephone service for Vermont, Interstate, and International calls. Employees are issued five digit authorization codes which lets them make these calls from any state telephone and directs the billing for their calls back to their departments.
Calling Cards:
Telecommunications maintains contracts for reduced costs on calling card calls. If your employees are on the road and need to make calls you can request a state calling card for their business use.
To make a call on the new state calling card provided by AT&T, you must dial 1-866-828-1110 and follow the verbal prompts.
Personal Long Distance Calls:
All telephones and cellular telephones owed by the State of Vermont are intended for use in conducting the day-to-day business of the State. Use of State equipment or services for personal activities is discouraged and should never interfere with the conducting of State business. We do recognize that occasionally, personal use of State equipment or services is necessary and acceptable. When State equipment is used for personal activities, the employees using the equipment must reimburse the State through their departments for the expense incurred.
The Telecommunications Section will provide monthly call detail reports to each business manager detailing long distance charges by each caller. Employees should examine those statements and remit the costs for all personal calls. Department business managers should deposit monies received from employees as a refund of expenditure against the telephone object code (365120).
If you would like to request a calling card or authorization code for a State employee, please complete the Long Distance Authorization Code & State of Vermont Calling Card Request Form.
